How often does anyone actually get a Kraken?

Everybody knows Kraken Unleashed is rare and First Blood is common. Nobody knows by how much, because the game has never published a rate and your own career screen only tells you your own totals. So we measured it: 461 battles analyzed, every medal earned by every player on the board counted one by one.

–battles analyzed
–player-battles measured
–distinct players
–medals tracked

One thing worth saying up front, because it is what makes these numbers usable at all: every player in each analyzed battle is counted, not just GamingDiver members. A few hundred battles therefore become thousands of player-battles from thousands of different players, the overwhelming majority of whom have never heard of this site. These are not the rates of a self-selected group of stat nerds. They are what happens in a random queue.

The medal table

Rates are per 100 player-battles. A player-battle is one person in one match, so "6.11" means that in any given match, about six of every hundred players on the board walk away with that medal. The controls filter every table on this page at once.

Medal Per 100player-battles Roughlyhow often Earnedin sample

By ship type

This is where the table starts explaining itself. Medals are not distributed evenly across the classes, and the pattern is not about which class is stronger. It is about which class is even eligible.

Brighter cells sit above that medal's own all-ships rate; dimmer cells sit below it. The comparison is per medal, so a rare medal and a common one are both readable.

By tier

Tier moves the rates less than ship type does, and mostly in the directions you would guess: bigger health pools make tanking medals easier and one-salvo deletions harder.

Columns are the tiers currently switched on above. Low tiers start off because they carry too few battles to read.

What the numbers say

A Kraken is a once-a-season event for most people

Kraken Unleashed lands about once every 429 player-battles. If you play a few hundred battles a month and never see one, nothing is wrong with you. Cruisers earn it most often and carriers did not earn a single one in the sample, which is a reminder that five kills is a lot easier when you can physically reach five separate ships.

Devastating Strike is a destroyer medal wearing a general-purpose name

It is the most common medal overall, and the class split is brutal: destroyers earn it at 11.90 per 100, carriers at 0.87. Deleting a ship with one salvo is what a torpedo wall does for a living. For everyone else it is an accident that happens to a low-health target.

Close Quarters Expert is exactly zero for destroyers

Zero. Not "rounds to zero" - literally none, in 1,958 destroyer battles. The medal requires the killing blow to come from your secondary battery, and destroyers do not have one. We like this number more than any other on the page, because it is the check that tells us we are counting what really happened rather than guessing: an impossible thing comes out impossible.

Flesh Wound rewards dying

"It's Just a Flesh Wound!" means you destroyed an enemy after your own ship was already gone, usually with torpedoes still in the water. So it inverts the usual ordering: destroyers 3.58, battleships 1.23. You cannot earn it if you survive, which makes it the one medal on the table where a higher rate is not obviously a good thing.

High Caliber scales with how much damage your class can physically do

It needs 30% of the enemy team's total health, spread across at least four ships. The class ladder runs almost exactly in order of alpha strike: destroyers 0.97, cruisers 3.57, battleships 4.33, carriers 5.81. Carriers top the table because hitting four different ships is the easy part of the job for them.

Dreadnought is the purest class medal on the board

Taking 120% of your own health and surviving is a battleship's entire job description, and the rate agrees: 2.56 per 100 for battleships against 0.05 for destroyers. That destroyer figure is 1 medal in 1,958 battles. Somebody out there had a very memorable game.

How to use this if you are chasing a specific medal. Filter to your ship type and tier, then read the "roughly how often" column as a realistic target rather than a challenge. The medals that move most with skill are the ones with a damage or kill threshold - High Caliber, Confederate, Kraken. The ones that barely move are the ones gated on a situation you do not control, like Detonation or First Blood.

How this was measured

Every number on this page is a count. We take a battle, read off which medals each player on the board actually earned, and add them up. There is no estimation, no modelling, and no inference from career totals anywhere in the table.

That last point matters because the obvious alternative does not work. Career statistics carry no achievements section at all, so anything built from them has to reverse-engineer medals out of kill counts - which can approximate maybe two of the seventeen here, and cannot touch High Caliber, Confederate, Dreadnought or Witherer at any accuracy. Counting them directly gets all of them exactly.

The check that keeps this honest

First Blood is awarded exactly once per battle, to whoever gets the first kill. That is a rule of the game, not a choice we made, so it gives the measurement a built-in answer key: the number of First Bloods we count should equal the number of battles that had at least one kill. It does. – of – battles contain exactly one, three contain none because nobody died, and a handful contain two from simultaneous kills. Nothing is going missing. If that number ever drifts, every rate on this page is suspect and we will know before you do.

There is a second check of the same kind sitting in the ship-type table. Close Quarters Expert requires the killing blow to come from your secondary battery, and destroyers do not carry one, so the honest answer for destroyers is exactly zero. That is exactly what the table says, across 1,958 destroyer battles. An impossible medal comes out impossible.

One more ran clean: every medal counted belonged to a player who was genuinely on that battle's roster, so no rate is inflated by dividing against a short denominator.

What is not in here

The tables rebuild every night, so the rates tighten as the number of analyzed battles grows. If you want your own games counted toward them, run them through GamingDiver Debrief and mark them public - only public battles are included in the analysis.
