AL Avrora Playstyle Guide

U.S.S.R. · Tier II · Cruiser · Premium

AL Avrora is a low-tier light cruiser built to overwhelm mistakes with volume of fire and constant shell output, not burst damage or survivability. She is basically a floating reminder that map control and target selection matter more than armor when a cruiser throws that many shells at careless opponents.

Ideal role

AL Avrora is a low-tier light cruiser built to overwhelm mistakes with volume of fire and constant shell output, not burst damage or survivability. She is basically a floating reminder that map control and target selection matter more than armor when a cruiser throws that many shells at careless opponents.

Best positioning

She performs best slightly behind the first line, using range and friendly spotting to keep guns busy without becoming the first ship everyone sees. AL Avrora is slow, has almost no AA worth mentioning, and does not reposition gracefully, so she wants the fight to come into her lane rather than constantly chasing it.

Main mistake to avoid

Do not sail her into a brawl just because the gun count looks funny. AL Avrora is fragile, slow, and easy to punish if she gets trapped. Her awful AA also makes carrier pressure far more dangerous than normal, so unsupported positioning is a much bigger problem here than on a cruiser with real air defense.

Commanders and inspirations

AL Avrora is a natural commander fit if you want to lean into HE pressure and utility, while Nikolai Kuznetsov is a straightforward standard option for a more conventional Soviet cruiser build. For inspirations, Norman Scott is a good example for improving shell grouping, and Gunichi Mikawa is a sensible concealment example to help a fragile low-tier cruiser stay in the fight longer.
