Achilles Playstyle Guide

Europe · Tier VI · Destroyer · Premium

Achilles is a fast, gun-focused destroyer that wants to pressure enemy destroyers, keep vision active, and use her mobility to create awkward fights rather than relying on overwhelming torpedo alpha. She plays best as an aggressive opportunist, not a passive backline scout.

Ideal role

Achilles is a fast, gun-focused destroyer that wants to pressure enemy destroyers, keep vision active, and use her mobility to create awkward fights rather than relying on overwhelming torpedo alpha. She plays best as an aggressive opportunist, not a passive backline scout.

Best positioning

She is strongest on flanks and cap edges where speed lets her change angles quickly and punish enemy DDs that get spotted first. Achilles wants room to kite and reposition, because her value comes from repeated short engagements and tempo swings rather than sitting stationary in one safe lane.

Main mistake to avoid

Do not open the game like a stealth torpedo boat and wait forever for perfect drops. Achilles gets more value from vision, pressure, and gun damage than from gambling the whole match on one torpedo attack. Overcommitting into a close-range brawl without an exit is the other easy way to lose her early.

Commanders and inspirations

Jerzy Swirski is the safest example commander if you want Achilles to play as a stealthier control destroyer, while Stig Ericson is a reasonable option if you want to push more into active gun pressure. Example inspirations would be Erich Bey for better concealment and William Sims for more HP, since both help Achilles survive the kind of short aggressive fights she wants to take.
